Swing dancing has come to Beacon, NY! A spectacular new addition to Beacon’s night life, Roger’s Folly Rooftop Dancing arrived with a joyful bang last Sunday night, as veteran swing dancers and beginners alike rocked out on the rooftop of The Inn And Spa At Beacon. Beacon residents were seen sipping chilled prosecco and admiring the rooftop view of the Hudson River and the surrounding mountains as the sun went down, to the beat of Ed Shaw’s La Familia Swinging Blues Band.

The party began at 6 p.m. with Emily Vanston’s swing dance clinic, followed by a free beginner’s lesson. La Familia kicked off the live music at 7:30, as the sun began to set over the Hudson. The dance floor was full, but with plenty of room to dance. "This is just what Beacon needs!" one Beacon dancer said. “This view is just amazing,” said Emily. "So much fun!" Beacon resident Jacob Serles declared.

Roger’s Folly is gearing up to host a weekly swing dance event, with live bands and DJ’d dancing. The next scheduled Swing Dance will be held Sunday evening, June 17th, with live music by long time Hudson Valley music icon Suzie Dean and The Dean Machine. The following Sunday, June 24th, Roger’s Folly brings the New York City’s famous high-energy rocking swing and blues band, Swingadelic to the rooftop of The Inn And Spa At Beacon. On Sunday evening, July 1, The Bernstein-Bard Quartet will play as the sun sets. Roger’s Folly is destined to add a unique layer to the Beacon NY nightlife scene. Dancing in Beacon NY is here at last! No partner is needed at these dances. Beginners are welcome. The price is $20 for the dance, and $15 for the clinic.

In addition to swing dancing, Roger’s Folly is also gearing up for this season’s Waltzing Under The Stars on the rooftop. The first Waltzing Under The Stars event, to the lilting music of The Bernstein-Bard Waltz Trio, is now set for Tuesday evening, June 26th.

Roger’s Folly is located on the rooftop of The Inn And Spa At Beacon, at 151 Main Street, Beacon NY. From the City, take Metro North to Beacon.  It’s a 10 minute walk from the Beacon station. Details for Roger’s Folly dance events can be found on Facebook.
